Leadership Network

Strengthening the leadership of the social sector is a large portion of The Fieldstone Foundation’s mission. We believe that people are the greatest asset of nonprofit organizations. We believe that as good stewards we are called to help people who have found their vocation in the social sector develop their talents, their skills, and their ability to impact others – their leadership.

The Fieldstone Leadership Network was created in 1994 in partnership with nonprofit professionals as a vehicle for peer learning. This network, now 900 professionals strong, has evolved into an innovative series of leadership programs. Over the years we have learned much about the leadership of the social sector. Some of these key components are:

  • People are the most important asset a nonprofit organization has to give life and strength to its mission. When you have the right talented people in the right place, the strategies and resources to drive your mission will follow.
  • There are four key influential leadership positions within a nonprofit – The Board Chair and Vice Chair, the Executive Director or CEO, and the second in command. We believe that by strengthening these key leadership roles, the leadership capacity of a nonprofit is enhanced and sustained.
  • The role of the nonprofit Executive Director or CEO of a nonprofit is challenging and may be lonely and isolated at times. A CEO spends most of her/his time serving the needs of the board, employees, clients, donors, and community stakeholders. In this servant leadership role, it is very easy for leaders to neglect their own professional development.

The Leadership Network offers three programs in a variety of formats. These highly focused programs offer nonprofit leaders immediate results affecting both their personal and professional lives. With more able leadership at the helm, volunteers, staff, and board members report transformational experiences and processes that re-energize their working relationships and produce day-to-day improvements. With a revitalized sense of mission and a strengthened commitment to problem solving and strategic planning, agencies also see their impact multiplied into the broader community. These nationally recognized learning opportunities are available at little or no cost through the support provided by The Fieldstone Foundation.

If you are already part of our network – thank you! If you would like to be a part of our unique leadership experience, please take a look at our programs:
