Grant Guidelines
The Foundation’s funding is based on our belief that nonprofit organizations providing the greatest impact share certain core values. In the spirit of a competitive process, the foundation often looks at many more requests than it can fund. Considerations for awards are by invitation only and are given to a small percentage of the many meritorious proposals considered.
In order to maximize the impact of a grant the Foundation looks for the following:
- A collaborative network of organizations that serves as a multiplier of resources by reducing the duplication or fragmentation of services.
- An opportunity to leverage additional funding from other sources.
- An opportunity to help move an organization forward in a way that would not be possible without our financial support.
- An opportunity to create or enhance a positive organizational culture.
- A well-planned approach to solving a problem or delivering services.
- 6. A program that is evaluated by its success in achieving results-based outcomes.
Also, the following guidelines may also assist you in discerning to initiate a proposal with the foundation:
- Contributions are limited to nonprofit organizations serving Orange and San Diego Counties in Southern California.
- Recipients must be exempt from Federal Taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and should not be classified as a private foundation.
- Realizing the importance of core support, the foundation makes grant for general operating expenses, program support, and capacity development.
- Only one request annually per organization will be given consideration.
- Award of a grant does not necessarily indicate future support.
The following are not eligible for a Fieldstone Foundation Grant:
- Organizations serving causes outside the Foundation’s target areas and regions
- Gifts for an individual
- The support of political campaign or politically affiliated organizations
- Capital campaigns
