Application Process

The Fieldstone Foundation has an annual grantmaking process that is by invitation only. If you have not been invited to submit a proposal, please read How to Initiate a Grant. It is important that you discern whether or not there is a fit between your opportunity and our grant strategy before contacting staff.

The general chronological steps that will guide the Fieldstone Foundation’s funding considerations are listed below. This chronogram pertains to all organizations who have been invited to submit a proposal regardless of whether you are a returning grantee or a new partner to the Foundation.

Timeline

January - March Organizational scouting and proposal invitations extended. Only Foundation initiated grants will be accepted.
April 30 Deadline for invited organizations to submit a proposal. Late proposals will not be considered for funding.
July Grants are disbursed.
July 15 Deadline for previous year grantees to submit grant reports.

What to Include in a Proposal

To provide the Foundation staff and Board of Directors the framework necessary to make responsible and effective grant making decisions, we ask that invited proposals include the following:

  • A concise description of the organization and the program or project to be funded, including purpose, objectives, strategy, outcomes, and how these outcomes will be measured.
  • A detailed account of how the capacity (human, organizational, financial and/or technological) of the organization will be increased if the proposal is funded.
  • Plans for the sustainability of the program/project once the Fieldstone grant has been expended.
  • A list of the organization's board of directors and advisory board.
  • Financial information:
    • The amount requested from The Fieldstone Foundation.
    • Past year's audited financial statement identifying all income sources for the organization.
    • Budget, timetable, and fundraising plans for the project.
    • Copies of federal and state tax exemption letters.

Important

  • Faxed and e-mailed proposals will not be accepted.
  • Only one copy of the proposal is required.
  • Applications and attachments should be three-hole punched and without staples.
  • Proposals should be postmarked by the deadline date of April 30.
  • All proposals must be directed to:
